Christmas is right around the corner, so in keeping with the spirit of the season glitch artist/photographer Dizz McGrueber will be speaking about conspiracy theories, and the art they inspire. Conspiracy theories and conspiracism more broadly run the gamut from harmless urban folklore (e.g. aliens, bigfoot, JFK’s brain) to society destroying. In our time they are often used by the powerful to aim the ire of the working class against helpless targets.

In our digital age sometimes all you can do about it is make art, so let’s talk about art about conspiracism.

Come and share your art or art that inspires you! Our meetups are informal discussions. Some of us bring works in-progress (of any kind or degree of completion) to share and discuss. Sometimes we bring pre-existing works that have had a significant impact on us.

We are a diverse and multidisciplinary artistic community in British Columbia’s lower mainland. We’d love to see your work at this month’s West Coast Creatives’ Salon!

Our first presenter this month is Brandon Chow, whom we are so grateful to have back after his year long study in Europe. He will be talking to us about some of his music and compositional thought process.

Refreshments will be served. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Upcoming Presentations

Occasionally our monthly salons will be broken up by presentations, where an artist might lead a more formal discussion about a piece they have created or a work that inspires them.

To get an idea of what our presentations look like and the topics we might discuss, you can view past presentations in the archive page.
